With the threat of so many village Post Offices closing, please support our neighbouring one at Stoke St. Michael.
Many of our elderly parishioners depend on it for their pensions and other counter facilities. No post office may mean no shop or daily paper deliveries and this would be a disaster. If we don’t use it we will lose it

Message in a bottle
Some time ago when the Police Support Community Officers from Shepton Mallet came to our Friendship Circle meeting to talk to us they brought with them the green and white ‘Message In a Bottle' containers which they distributed to our members.
This plastic bottle contains an information form and two plastic stickers with a green cross on. For the elderly living alone and/or with a medical problem, this information is so important (and life saving) if an emergency arose and paramedics had to be called. The form should be filled in with your personal details e.g next of kin – and medical history – especially if you are diabetic, asthmatic or have heart problems.
The form should be put in the bottle and put somewhere easily seen (the fridge is recommended) One green cross sticker is placed on the outside of the fridge and the other by the front door where it can be seen. If you are on your own and help is needed this information is invaluable – saving both time and maybe your life!

Recently a neighbour of Betty Hayes at Dean found her collapsed and had to call the paramedics to her – Betty suffers from asthma and suffered a very bad attack with complications. The paramedic who attended her appreciated that she had one of these bottles and was quickly able to access the information he needed before taking her to Bath.
If you already have one of these bottles, please make sure you are displaying where it is and that the information on the form is up to date. I have some spare ones, so if you would like one or know someone who should have one please call me. Gwenda
