Cranmore Village - Cranmore, Dean, East Cranmore, Waterlip

The Community Group was set up to raise funds for the village.

All residents of the village are members of the group.  There is a committee which meets once a month.  Anyone from the village can join the meetings, the only elected members are the Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.  At present there are approximately 12 people who meet to discuss the next event.

There is a special sub-committee of enthusiastic volunteers who meet to plan the next Summer Fayre, which will probably be in August in Jill’s Close. Watch for details!

Some of the Events put on by the group:

  • The Annual Village Fayre. 12th August 2018
  • Occasional Dances.
  • The Halloween Children's disco always held on 31st October each year
  • Quizzes – at various times throughout the yea
  • Christmastime Music Night in December
  • Walks in the surrounding countryside
  • The Community Group own 4 marquees which are used for various events throughout the year.  The marquees are also for hire.

Monies raised during the events and from marquee hire is used to enhance the village.  In April each year the groups and societies can ask for a grant for specific projects. i.e. funds have been used for new safety matting for the village play equipment, upkeep of the village hall, different projects on the churches, the tennis and cricket clubs. It is also used for the free Halloween children's disco, only children from outside the village need to pay.  Funds raised at the quizzes also help local charities, like the Somerset Air Ambulance.
