The new 162 bus service, provided by Frome Minibuses
Westwards the stops are:
1) In Cooks Lane by the church
2) Outside the Strode Arms
3) On the A361 at the top of Piers Road
Eastwards the stops are:
1) Next to the tennis courts in Tansey
2) Outside the Strode Arms
3) In Cooks Lane by the church
Drivers can choose whether to go down Piers Road and up Cooks Lane, or vice versa, so do look out in case your bus comes from an unexpected direction, and do check the destination before boarding!
Asda bus
There is a free bus service to and from Asda in Frome every Monday. Pick it up at 9:30 from Cooks Lane, return from the store at 12:00.
College bus
Nippy Bus run a 649 bus to Strode College, Street during termtime.
Pick it up at 8:08 from Cranmore Piers. The return service arrives at 17:20 at the cricket ground, bound for Stoke, Oakhill & Binegar.
Further Afield by Bus and Coach
Bath
The quickest bus route to Bath is the 267 from Frome. Both First and Faresaver operate 267 buses; Faresaver 267 is quicker as it doesn’t call at Rode. It starts from Critchill Road. First 267 starts from Sainsbury’s. Both go via the Market Place. An even better place to go from is near the bottom of Grange Road.
Another way to get to Bath is to take the 776 Hatch Green service from Shepton Mallet or from the Knatchbull in Stoke St.Michael. Get off at Midsomer Norton and transfer to one of the buses going to Bath (173, 178, 179, 184, 379).
It is also possible to go by 173 from Wells, Gurney Slade or Chilcompton, but this does take longer.
Trowbridge, Lacock and Chippenham
Take the 234 (First) or X34 (Faresaver) bus from Frome Sainsbury’s, Market Place or Grange Road.
Yeovil
Take the No.1 South West Coaches bus from Shepton Mallet (Tesco or the Charlton).
London
Berry’s superfast service to Hammersmith is fastest. It runs from opposite the Police Station in Shepton Mallet.
National Coaches provide a daily service via Bath and Heathrow. It runs from Rectory Road, opposite Great Ostry in Shepton Mallet.
