Coffee morning 2016

The Coffee and Cake morning on June 14th was a very happy and successful event which was so well attended in our beautifully decorated hall (Thanks, Brian!)

As well as the National Anthem for the Queen, we also raised our cups to wish Ted a very happy 90th birthday.

The raffle table was, as usual, well laden and produced £190 towards our Christmas Lunch.
We also paid tribute to our 90 and 90+ year olds who were at the coffee morning – Hilda, Mary, Len, Ted and Frances. A very special occasion.

We would all like to wish Mary Cook a very happy 93rd birthday on July 1st.

Many of you will remember Marjorie Wood who lived at Dean and regularly worshipped at St.Batholomew’s Church. She was president of the then W.I. Marjorie will be 100 years old on July 9th, and now resides in a residential home in Wimborne. We all wish her well and God’s blessing.

Reminder: The friendly free bus to Asda in Frome continues to run every Monday, leaving Cranmore at 11.35am and departing from the ASDA store at 1:10pm. A few more passengers would be welcome as this is an invaluable service to some of our older residents.

————————————————————————————————————————–

In 2013 we celebrated 25 years of Friendship Circle.

Although we consider ourselves to be a small village, a high number of our senior parishioners live alone and without a shop and post office as a common meeting place – many don’t see each other and can become lonely, especially if disabled through age or illness. Our aim is to keep these people in touch in a social and happy environment and we are grateful to Cranmore Parish Council, the Hall Committee and the Community Group for their support.

We meet for Coffee Mornings or special Birthday Celebrations and the occasional BINGO which is always a fun afternoon. At these meetings we have raffles or bring and buys which bring us in funds which we put towards our Christmas Lunch. This is always popular and last Christmas we sat 50 with a marvellous lunch prepared by Suzette Thorner and her sister Lee. Entertainment was supplied by Trevor Hoddinott and Ken Wagg. We are hoping to repeat the event again this year.

We regularly welcome friends not only from Cranmore but also from Doulting, Shepton Mallet and even Crewkerne!

If anyone feels they would like to help in any way they are always very welcome as sometimes help is needed with transport and catering.
